September 2022 OMG Finish from Quilt Paint Create

My OMG for September was to complete my Art quilt Group’s improv challenge.

I started with white fabric and added glue as a resist.

Then I painted it.

Then I washed out the glue and added texture with paintstik over a rubbing plate.

Then I added more paint.

To make it useful, I turned it into a project bag.

I had a lot of fun returning to my surface design roots. The challenge is to do something with the fabrics. This time around I’m committed to using it as I create it.

April 2022 OMG Finish from Quilt Paint Create

Sewing about half the pattern for The Margo Handbag by Lazy Girl Designs was my OMG for April.

I sometimes stall when sewing bags. I like the idea of making them, but sometimes find them fussy and tedious. They tend to take me longer than they should.

That wasn’t the case with The Margo Handbag. The directions were very well written and separated into simple steps. I found it easy to pick up where I left off the night before. I don’t always have a lot of mental power left after working all day. The clearer the instructions ...

Sunday Stash April 24, 2022 from Quilt Paint Create

I finished the Margo Handbag this week for a yard and a half out. No fabric in.

I’ll post a picture and pattern review in a few days.

I enjoyed having something simple to sew at night so much that I pulled out all my orange fabric scraps and a background

to make some version of this pattern by Bonnie Hunter

that I posted about here.

Looks like it will be me, my iron and YouTube later today.

Bag Progress from Quilt Paint Create

I’ve been working steadily on the Margo Handbag.

I have a love-hate relationship with bag making. I like the idea of making purses, but I don’t always enjoy the tedium of it. I sometimes find the instructions lacking, but this Lazy Girl Designs pattern has great instructions. That’s making a huge difference.

I’ve already made enough progress to hit my OMG. It would be even better to finish the bag by the end of the month.

Sunday Stash April 10, 2022 from Quilt Paint Create

No fabric in this week. I fully finished Christmas Eve for a little fabric out.

I couldn’t get the color right in the picture. The outer border is a light sage green.

I also cut out the Margo Handbag this week, including the batting and interfacing. That will be the next sewing project that doesn’t require a lot of thought.

April 2022 Short List And OMG from Quilt Paint Create

I finished my March OMG, catching up on the band sampler. I also finished Roads. Finishes are good because they make room for new projects.

The band sampler is on a break. My Guild isn’t demonstrating the stitches for the next two rows until May.

Project One: I’m working on a kit called My Sewing Treasures by Bobby G Designs.

Project Two: I will continue working on Open Dialogue.

Project Three: I’m starting the Margo Handbag by Lazy Girl Designs. The instructions come in a ten page booklet. My OMG will be to get through the first ...

Sunday Stash April 3, 2022 from Quilt Paint Create

No change in the numbers.

I’m still working on framing Christmas Eve. I expect to finish it this week.

I’m also thinking about the next project. I like to have a couple things going in case a project requires thought or something I don’t have. I know it’s hard to believe, but sometimes the stash doesn’t contain the right color fabric or thread. It happens to the best of us.

Candidates for the next thing are the purse,

the blue scraps,

or a garment.

So many options, so little time.

Small Steps from Quilt Paint Create

Sometimes it’s all you can do to make a little progress on a project.

This morning I managed fabric selection for the bag.

The fabric on the left came from my Guild’s fabric sale a few months ago. The others have aged.

This year many of my projects included recent acquisitions. Although I find a stash useful, I have to question the wisdom of a large stash. If I use only the recent buys, there isn’t much hope for the stuff I bought a long time ago.

Time will tell. I’ll give it another year and ...

Sunday Stash December 19, 2021 from Quilt Paint Create

No change in the numbers.

I need a mindless sewing project, something to pick at when time allows.

Here’s my choice.

According to the tag on the pattern, I bought it a couple years ago at the thrift. I haven’t gotten around to fabric selection, but whatever I choose needs to go with a black zipper. That’s the only color zipper I have that’s long enough.
